Mobile Library activities at Junior High School 1 Mentok, West Bangka







The significant improvement of technology has made urban and rural communities thirst of an accurate, fast and an exact information both in print or electronic media. For rural communities, especially the border communities, they received the information slower than the urban communities due to the limited transportation. To obstacle this problems, The Agency of Archives and Library Bangka Belitung Province held a Mobile Library Service (Pusling) to reach the border areas. A Mobile Library is the non-formal education which participated in the intellectual life of the nation, as mandated in the 1945 Constitution.


The aims of this Mobile Library Service (Pusling) are expanding the range of public library services and meeting the readers with reading materials especially in border areas.  The main function is provided information to the public and school children in particular.


On February 23, 2017 a mobile library went to Junior High School 1 Mentok, West Bangka Regency. The teams on duty are Mr. Agi Destari and Mrs. Uli Simanjuntak, Sos as the librarians. They are greeted well by the headmaster, teachers and students. At this moment, they served for about 2 hours and had 64 visitors.
